The Uzbekistan national library is the country's biggest library. It houses more than 3.5 million printed works, including 200,000 copies of documents that date from the fifteenth to the nineteenth centuries. 500,000 people use the library every year. Inaugurated in 2011, a new building covering an area of 38,000 sq. m comprising reading rooms, storage rooms, a conference centre with seating for 960 people, and a book museum, was added. The book storage areas are kept at a constant temperature of 18°C.
