ISO 14062 standard

Eco-design is a standardised approach that benefits from an international set of standards:

ISO 14062, "Environmental management – Integrating environmental aspects into product design and development".

This standard sets out the concepts and current practices relating to the integration of environmental aspects into product design and development by indicating the main strategic challenges relating to the company.

ISO 14062 presents elements that can be equated with product development stages, offering a solution for eco-design approaches:

  • Planning,
  • Conceptual design,
  • Testing/prototype,
  • Production/launch.

CIAT'S eco-design commitment

Considering the environmental impact of a product from its design to its recycling and taking action at the most significant stages in its life cycle: that is CIAT's eco-design commitment.

With this policy, the Group reduces the environmental impact of its products and systems as far as possible by:

  • acting as early as possible in the design process (integration in CIAT product standards),
  • drawing on the results of life cycle analyses (LCA) of CIAT products,
  • providing a system LCA comprising all products selected for theproject.

Moreover, the environmental impact of our products is published in CIAT environmental balance sheets based on LCAs.

Our system solutions are naturally oriented towards sustainable development

Our range of system solutions combines CIAT equipment within the framework of a global policy of comfort, indoor air quality and energy optimisation; it is naturally and efficiently an integral part of our sustainable development strategy.

For example, the Hysys® system for heating, cooling and the quality of indoor environments, or the Energy Hub for activities with demanding cooling requirements, provide substantial benefits for both mankind and the environment.

Limit CIAT waste: ensuring re-use

Eco-designing a product also involves anticipating its end of life by working to reduce waste and maximise the recyclability of its materials. As a key player in HVAC engineering, CIAT also enforces its expertise in the improved re-use of thermodynamic equipment that has reached the end of its life.     CIAT Eco design
